Pancake Night

Today was really nice, weather wise. The best day we've had in a while. To celebrate we had pancake night!

Dear Blogging world, if you didn't know already, this is Adam.

We're BFF's. (just as we woke up picture)

Adam played soccer today, we went to a super delicious barbecue and then just lounged around the house. Adam went to get some last minute groceries and I put on our recent antique fair buy: an Ella Fitzgerald record.

and onto cooking:

My first kitchen wreck here. Ah, pre-married life. I'm not a bad pancake maker, its just that we got this new waffle shaped pancake pan. I don't think I understand how to use it yet (obviously). I ruined an entire batch of pancakes by turning it into a flaky mish-mashed junk.

And now, proof that I am, in fact, one of the best pancake makers ever:

The Pancake Tower. Epic.

And to show off: my little curio shelf actually hung. I haven't filled it yet, only a couple of empty spots left!

And that dear friends was my sunday.

It Has Arrived

The first picture from my brand new digital point and shoot!!! It's no antique/vintage film and fund guzzling camera, but it has it's uses. For one, instant picture viewing post-picturing taking. A luxury, I know.

Prepare yourself for the craziness that will be pictures from Spain!

The Weekend

Today:
  • Getting my camera delivered
  • Going to the bo-dunk little parking lot fair just for the pictures
Tomorrow:
  • Shopping
  • Go-Cart tour of San Francisco
  • Saves the Day show / double date
Sunday:
  • Bed Transport
  • Soccer Game
  • House Cleaning
Seven days from now?

GOING TO SPAIN!

I've already made a list of every outfit I'll bring. I got a pair of those Dr. Scholl's "gellin" sole things so that way I don't have to sacrifice comfort to cuteness and I can wear whatever cute shoes I damn well want. I've been brushing up my spanish (I'm much better at it than you would assume, I promise) and I'm more than ready for a vacation. I can't wait to bring all of my cameras, take all of my pictures, and get all of my films developed. I can't wait to just be and to live and to breathe.

So, seven days. Be prepared for more countdowns and lists in the days till then!!

Zooey Deschanel

It's no secret that I wish I could be Zooey Deschanel. I understand people hate her deadpan delivery but I find it rather charming. She just it without seeming like she's trying too hard.

That and I love anyone that sings and dances and looks like they're having fun doing it! Case in point: these two videos. They currently top my list for all time favorite videos EVER. (all time and ever are redundant but it emphasizes my point.)

She & Him - "why do you let me stay here?" (500) days of summer inspired bank dance

Aaaannnnddd my new favorite, She & Him "In The Sun"

Could I love the fact that there's an ampersand in their name? Could their song title be ANY more me? Could this dance look any more fun?

When I make a band I'm totally going to have an ampersand in there.

The Politics

Ok, I admit it, I'm not a very argumentative person. People close to be may beg to differ and sure, I could be half lying. But when it comes down to it I'd much rather avoid contentious subjects and I'll work more towards diplomacy than confrontation any day.

This means that I don't usually publicly (or openly) talk about politics. I see it as a bad habit, really, because why should one shy away from stating their set beliefs? It's just a habit I've adopted for better and for worse.

But I will say:

I don't understand WHY someone would want to be a republican. I don't understand how, when fully educated, someone would CHOOSE that side. It doesn't HAVE to be one side or the other, declare oneself mixed or undecided, that's fine. But to whole-heartily be republican? It doesn't make sense to me.

Maybe I was raised too feminist. Maybe I was born with the consciousness of the color of my skin. I don't know. Maybe I should stop trying to excuse my own prejudices.

It just... it doesn't make sense to me. Perhaps if one is particularly uneducated or even underprivileged I could explain it away easier. But... Well,

Thing #1: How could a woman NOT be a feminist? I see it ALL the time. Girls do it all the time. They're idiots. Why would a woman do that to herself? Why... how... what the hell goes on that a woman would blatantly say she was NOT a feminist?

Thing #2: There is no such thing as a perfect party or a perfect stance or a perfect politician but given the history... Why would a feminist be a republican? I guess I see how but the why is what I wonder after.

I understand there's SO MUCH more to politics than JUST women's rights. But does that mean they can remain ignored for those other things?

And even WITH taking things like immigration, economic viewpoints, and social programs into consideration the choice seems so OBVIOUS to me over which should be the choice.

Maybe I'm being naive or even overestimating the ability of people. But I'm going to be a jerk and just say it:

Republicans don't make ANY sense to me.

Antique Fair

Even though we’ve been going every month for almost a year today’s antique fair totally wore me out. My feet are SO tired!

Purchased:
•White “victorian” shelf curio display
•4 postcards, 2 painted, 1 photograph, and 1 vintage postcard style.
•An incredibly awesome clock. I can’t wait to tablescape.
•An Ella Fitzgerald record, “rhythm is my business”

Regrets: I didn’t find a nightstand and I held off on the aretha franklin and tower of power records.

I’m not sure if I should regret or be proud of myself for not coming home with a camera. We saw a plentitude of vintage SLRs, kodak brownies and instamatics, and polaroids. I had to repeat over and over, “I don’t NEED another camera…”

It’s ok, the less I shop here the more I can shop in SPAIN!!! (11 days left!!!)

Antique fair buys!

My Visitors

These are all the visits I get to my blog according to my tracker!! I won't deceive myself into thinking I'm cool and popular some of these people stopped by for 2 seconds and never came back. But it's just a warning: I'm watching you. ;)

Tell me if you can

Last night I definitely had a dream about filing, faxing, and being irritated at my coworkers...

What has my life come to?

Picture Perfect

I thought it'd be a fun entry to show off each of my cameras! You know, before I get my newest addition. I admit, I'm a little addicted to the buying of the cameras. Don't judge me. They each have their own little story. So if you're easily bored walk away now while you still can. It will be long winded and ridiculously pointless as my entries usually are! haha.
My FufiFilm Instax Mini: I often inflate my own ego and tell myself that I got things or knew about things before they gained in popularity. I could be lying to myself but I continually insist that it's true. This is one of those things. I stumbled on it online a loooong time ago and couldn't purchase it due to my constant lack of funds before hit Urban Outfitters and EVERY website. I finally got it on my birthday, after the engagement this year from the one and only Adam. You'll see a trend with these, I've received many from or to do with Adam. I used this camera for pictures of the flea market,  our engagement/friendsgiving, and our fair share of random fun. We can't very well document EVERY romantic excursion now, can we? There's just too many too often.
My Polaroid OneStep Land Camera: I hunted one of these down on Ebay for daaaays. I mean, I have an Instax, why not the real genuine thing? I bid on a few on ebay but lost, over budget. And then, this past Antique faire/flea market (The one every first Sunday that we go to every month. See, I told you we can't document it all), I stumbled on this beauty at a booth! It was a little dirty but was apparently in perfectly working condition. After a long internal debate I gave in. I bought it. A whopping FIVE dollars. This is especially awesome because The Impossible Project has just finished their work! These cameras are going for many dineros. That and they're sold out. But now film, although still expensive is easily available! I'm ridiculously excited.
The Diana: Aaaahhhhh. My diana. Oh diana. How I will endlessly infinitely love my Diana Dreamer. Sometimes I get suddenly REALLY anxious that it will one day break and I won't be able to get another one and I'll have to live the rest of my life Diana-less. I've considered buying like 5 to keep in my closet. Seriously. This will have to go down in history as one of my first cameras I've ever bought. I bought a digital camera YEEAAARRRSSS ago, barely. I don't even remember the reason other than that it was love at first sight. Even now, just looking at it, I sigh a little and my heart aches. Is it unhealthy that material objects do this to me? The Dreamer Diana is the camera embodiment of my very soul.
My Canon Antique SLR: I don't know if it really qualifies as antique or if it's just vintage. According to wikipedia my camera model was manufactured sometime between 1976 - 1984. It's older than me! This was also an antique faire acquisition. A really good price from your standard loveable antique selling old man. I even got a free camera bag! He had a beard and everything.

and last but definitely not least, My Lubi 2: another sigh/groan inducing camera love affair. This is probably one of the most awesome cameras I have. Everything is better when you win it, the commercials are true. A triumphant ebay purchase, indeed!! Straight from Poland this beauty beauty beauty has graced me with it's presence.

Ok, so I didn't really have much to regale you with in regards to camera stories. Maybe next time?

haha. Oh, and in case you forgot what I looked like, that's me holding all the cameras. Yeahhhh..... little vain? maybe.

A thousand times: I am ok

Created by OnePlusYou

Lately every day has been a test and in it's own way, every day has been a cry for help. My phone keeps ringing and I just don't feel like talking. Don't feel like listening. I want the world to pause for a moment to let me catch my breath. But it doesn't. Because we're all grown ups here and it doesn't. So I will remain composed, bite down just a little harder, and keep telling myself: "18 days and this will all be ok..."
