The Politics

Ok, I admit it, I'm not a very argumentative person. People close to be may beg to differ and sure, I could be half lying. But when it comes down to it I'd much rather avoid contentious subjects and I'll work more towards diplomacy than confrontation any day.

This means that I don't usually publicly (or openly) talk about politics. I see it as a bad habit, really, because why should one shy away from stating their set beliefs? It's just a habit I've adopted for better and for worse.

But I will say:

I don't understand WHY someone would want to be a republican. I don't understand how, when fully educated, someone would CHOOSE that side. It doesn't HAVE to be one side or the other, declare oneself mixed or undecided, that's fine. But to whole-heartily be republican? It doesn't make sense to me.

Maybe I was raised too feminist. Maybe I was born with the consciousness of the color of my skin. I don't know. Maybe I should stop trying to excuse my own prejudices.

It just... it doesn't make sense to me. Perhaps if one is particularly uneducated or even underprivileged I could explain it away easier. But... Well,

Thing #1: How could a woman NOT be a feminist? I see it ALL the time. Girls do it all the time. They're idiots. Why would a woman do that to herself? Why... how... what the hell goes on that a woman would blatantly say she was NOT a feminist?

Thing #2: There is no such thing as a perfect party or a perfect stance or a perfect politician but given the history... Why would a feminist be a republican? I guess I see how but the why is what I wonder after.

I understand there's SO MUCH more to politics than JUST women's rights. But does that mean they can remain ignored for those other things?

And even WITH taking things like immigration, economic viewpoints, and social programs into consideration the choice seems so OBVIOUS to me over which should be the choice.

Maybe I'm being naive or even overestimating the ability of people. But I'm going to be a jerk and just say it:

Republicans don't make ANY sense to me.
