Spain Arrival

Ok, so I've thought it over and decided that the only way to go about it is chronologically. And with more pictures than I'm sure you even care about. But I have to show SOMEONE all these pictures of adam and I. So, while I don't usually talk about them, some comments would be appreciated if nothing else then because I like to think we're cute. gross, I know.

So without further ado, Madrid, our first day:

When we first arrived we got in too early for check in so we left our luggage and after almost a full day of travel time (13 hrs. on plane, 5 hour layover, half hour taxi ride) we went out exploring without any agenda, any clue where anything what, and barely the energy to run on. So here are our sleepy faces. Happy Sleepy Faces.

We stumbled onto the royal palace (palacio real) and wandered the gardens. There were dogs EVERYWHERE throughout Spain. Much to our glee we even saw two chows. We're dog-dorks, I know.

What? It was our first day, I was jetlagged and things were a little fuzzy. But I was EXCITED! I needed a picture that said SOMETHING about Madrid. So there I am standing above a sewer.

Adam lost in the garden's mazes.

We walked through amazingly beautiful streets.

(My computer is being stupid and won't let me flip pictures. I'll try restarting to "fix" the problem after this entry.) We found this small plaza, got to sit down for a second or two, and take some pictures.

After almost 5 hours of wandering sleepily around and wandering SO sleepily around that we had no idea where we were or how to get back we decided to take the Metro.

This accordian guy kept peeking at me so I took a picture. We didn't know which Metro stop was closest to our hostal but we guessed. At least we were closer!

We slept a bit (lot bit) then went out to dinner to a place that was in my Spain book, El Igenio. It was traditional spanish food and heavily Don Quixote themed. I don't remember anything else that happened that day. It was all a blur. I'm still in a blur.
